World Cal, Inc. Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing Questions

What are the standard payment terms?
World Cal, Inc. offers four ways to pay for goods and services:
  1. Establish a Net 30-day billing account.
This is the most common means used by companies to procure services. World Cal, Inc. can establish a Net 30-day billing account that allows for the shipment of equipment and services against a purchase order which has been faxed or mailed. To set up an account, please provide World Cal, Inc. with four (4) business and one (1) bank reference. NOTE: Some banks are now requiring a letter, which gives authorization to release information. If your bank has such a requirement, please send them a letter authorizing the release of information to World Cal, Inc. This is the single most common reason for delayed shipments to new customers. Providing this information in a timely manner will help avoid delays in shipments to the end user.
  2. Payment by Credit Card.
World Cal, Inc. accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express for calibration services. When placing an order by phone, please have your account number, account name, address, and expiration date available.
  3. COD Shipment.
World Cal, Inc. can ship equipment within the United States by C.O.D. This method is typically used when making a one-time purchase.
  4. Advanced Payment is always welcome.
Typically used for one-time purchases, by overseas companies, or if a credit problem exists.
Are credit cards accepted?

Are rush orders accepted?
Yes, we provide Next on Bench services for an additional fee. Next on Bench services are typically a 2 day turnaround for most calibrations.

Calibration Questions

Do my certificates and stickers require "due dates"?
The answer depends on your situation. ISO 17025. Section 5.10.4.4 of the standard states:

"A calibration certificate (or label) shall not contain any recommendation on the calibration interval except where this has been agreed with the client. This requirement may be superseded by legal regulations."

Many factors contribute to the actual due date, and a majority of the factors can't be assessed by the calibration laboratory. Factors such as drift, manufacturer's recommendations, calibration history, and end usage all contribute to when an item should be recalled for calibration. The customer is the authority on these matters. If a due date appears on your certificates or stickers, it's only listed as a convenience to the user - and is not indicative of a concrete date that the instrument is due for calibration.

I lost my certificate. How do I get a new one?
Please sign up for World Cal, Inc.'s Certificate and Data Access Program, and be able to access your certificates 24/7!

My certificate or sticker contains incorrect information. How do I get it revised?
Contact us for a revision. Have your certificate ready for reference. We'll mail the revised certificate or sticker to you. If you're in a hurry for the new certificate as a result of an audit or other circumstance, we can fax it as well.

Do I need to fax my purchase order to you before I send in my equipment?
World Cal, Inc. requires a purchase order or other payment arrangements before shipment can be returned to you. However, you do not need to fax it in advance. Simply include it with your shipment.

I need my order fast. Can I call ahead of time to pre-schedule?
Next On Bench Service is available when an emergency turnaround is needed. Next On Bench Service has a 48-hour turnaround; prices are 1.5 times that of standard prices, with a maximum of ten pieces allowed. However, to be fair to all returning customers, we employ a FIFO (first-in, first-out) technique for all other orders received. Pre-scheduling your equipment allows us to adequately gage our workload enabling us to get your order out in a timely manner.

Accreditation Questions

What is Laboratory Accreditation?
Laboratory accreditation is defined as formal recognition of an organization's technical competency to perform specific tests, types of tests, or calibrations.

The general requirements for laboratory accreditation are contained in ISO/IEC 17025. This standard contains quality system requirements and technical requirements that the laboratories must meet. Laboratory accreditation requirements, however, go beyond just ISO/IEC 17025.

What is the "Scope of Accreditation"?
The list of specific tests, types of tests or calibrations for which a laboratory is found competent is listed in a Scope of Accreditation. The final content of the scope must be approved by the assessor(s) and the selected members of the A2LA Accreditation Council. For calibration laboratories, the scope normally includes the parameters, ranges of measurement, the best uncertainty associated with each range, and the techniques/equipment used to perform the calibrations.
